Harbour Wonderland

20 12 2012

It had been billed as a Christmas spectacular. In reality, the Harbour Wonderland was spectacularly disappointing. Outside M Shed last night there were a few sorry-looking fires, origami cranes and a giant plug (below) last seen at The Deep End exhibition at the North Baths on the Gloucester Road.

One projection of the inner workings of a steam piston on the funnel of the Balmoral stopped me in my tracks; it was reminiscent of some of the black and white projections at Mail, Maps & Motion at Temple Meads and looked like it was real.

But it was a rare, if not only, highlight. It was not just the rain that made most of the rest of the event a damp squib.
