Bristol Temple Quarter Gateway Project

7 04 2013

The shortlist has been announced for the Bristol Temple Quarter Gateway Project, a competition organised by the Bristol Festival of Ideas which now has 10 ideas that could provide a better welcome to Bristol for visitors when they arrive at Temple Meads; helping them learn more about the history of the area and of the city; and guide them on their way easily and quickly to destinations.

Proposals include busking stages, an online science-orientated education project fronted by a young Isambard Kingdom Brunel and a bespoke theatrical experience in the tunnels below the station.

The full shortlist is:

  • Anna Johnson: Bristol Billboards
  • Comenius Associates Ltd: Isambard’s Kingdom of Scientific Adventures
  • Coombs Jones Architects+Makers: Cabinet of Curiosities
  • Dan Gregory, Common Capital and Pop-Up Bristol: Tickety-Boo!
  • Dave Morgan-Davies: Glow
  • Doug Francisco – The Invisible Circus: The Time Tunnels
  • Jnr Hacksaw: Transient
  • Joe Melia: Here
  • Marcus Lanyon: Reverse Heritage Graffiti
  • Pubali Bardhan Dickens: BRISTOL: Say it with Letters

All of these will be awarded £500 so that the outline proposals can be developed in more detail. An overall winner will be announced at the Festival of Ideas awards evening on May 20, receiving £2,500 to help make their idea a reality.
