i have lived in barton hill for 7 years.i am a single mum of 2,a daughter aged 8 and a son of nearly 3. i have seen barton hill change alot in the time i have been here, the council have put in fences around the tower block and gardens inside these fences. the building of the wellspring healthy living centre where there is a doctor, dentist chemist.they run fitness classes, craft classes of different kinds. there is alot going on in there and is worth checking out what is available.Barton hill settlement, which is celebrating 100 years this year, has so much to offer, for all age groups. they do lunches, budget family days out, oap days out. travelling light theatre company are based inside the settlement and hold theatre groups for different ages. they do some courses also at the settlement, again its worth popping in or calling to see what is on offer at the time. im not really much of a going out to pubs kind of person but when i did used to go out occasionally,it was the local pub on queen ann road the rhubarb tavern, they do karaoke among other things. there are lots of parks very close, church road where there is a tesco, a few hairdressers, newsagents, opticians, aldi and lidl. barton hill is a very community spirited place and there is always something going on,whoever you are.
