12 06 2012

The Bristol Pound will hit the streets of Bristol on September 19, Bristol Culture can exclusively reveal. The money made for Bristol has had a turbulent beginning thanks to strict FSA regulations, but is now just months away from finally launching. Here is a sneak preview of what the £5 note will look like:

All good stuff and well done. It does not look as if the website has kept up to date with this good news ……. maybe worth updating Dan.

“You may have been expecting the imminent launch of the Bristol Pound, but due to the previously unforeseen scale of the scheme we have decided to postpone it to complete all the extra development and design work required. We are very pleased with the huge amount of interest we have had for the scheme, so we feel it is critical for us to feel completely happy with everything before it goes live, but don’t worry the Bristol Pound IS COMING! We expect to announce a new launch date in the near future, through both the local news channels and on our website.

Thank you again for your continued support”.

Wondering whether you have heard about the Bristol Food Conference that took place at Brunels Old Station yesterday? It was a very exciting event, run by the Bristol Food Policy Council, which builds on the findings of the Who Feeds Bristol report – which looks at the current and future sustainability of Bristol’s food system. A particularly exciting outcome of the conference was the launch of the Bristol Good Food Charter – which outlines the principles of good food and why it is vital to the people of Bristol. More information can be found here: http://bristolgoodfood.org/.

Also wondering if you have heard about the ‘Bristol Independents Day’ that is taking place throughout the city on and around the 4th July? This is is to support and promote shopping, eating and drinking at all of Bristol’s independent outlets. It is an important initiative to keep our high streets alive. More information can be found at http://www.bristolindependents.co.uk

It would be really fantastic if you could spread the word. Please do get in touch if you would like to know more…
